Holloween 05...so sad

  • Written by Lobo on Tuesday, November 1, 2005

This has been the most pathetic Holloween I've ever seen. I bought two bags of candy (from Sam's Club, not those little dinky bags at the grocery stores) expecting last years crowd to return, and all that came this year were four groups of kids. Even on the way home I only saw a handful of kids, its unbelievable. I hope it's just my area, because I know when I was a kid every holloween was awesome. It was like a party on the sidewalks seeing all the kids walking around, pillow cases slung over their shoulder possibly 50% of the weight of the carrier.

Now I see barely anything in these kids bags. Could it be possible that the news media struck enough fear into the hearts of parents causing them to question the saftey of their children? Probably. All I saw on the news (even tonight) was to watch out for sexual predators, and the dangers of trick or treating goes beyond the tampered candy.

Getting off on a tangent here, but it sickens me how much our media tries to constantly create an aura of paranoia. Two parents went with our group of trick or treaters, every year without question. If that's not enough saftey I don't know what is. The last 'group' of kids was all of two, no parents in sight, very little kid - either the parents aren't paranoid like the rest, or totally irresponsible.

There weren't even any last minute Teenagers coming at Eleven to Midnight that I could pawn the candy off on. Guess I'm gonna be binging for a while....

On the flip side of this crappy Holloween turn out, Gunstar Super Heroes carried me through the night very well. The games too darn easy though (on normal). Though I'm not playing for score but to stay alive; but still, I'm slightly dissapointed in the lack of being able to change weapons and general challenge of the game. In Treasures defense though, I do have 10 extra years of gaming experience under my belt, and played hte hell out of Gunstar Heroes through the years (esp this year) anticipating this one. And it's still pretty damn fun regardless. I just want a 'little' more.
