After DQ8, no more buying consoles games

I finally decided, once I get Dragon Quest VIII, I will not allow myself to buy another console game for the rest of the year, except for what I may get for Christmas. The reason is that I really, really must have a Nintendo DS. It has games that are killing me that I can't own at the moment, such as Castlevania: DoS, Sonic Rush, Lunar Dragon Song, Mario Kart DS, Advance Wars Dual Strike, etc. I'll admit, I originally hated the DS last year and thought it was worthless, Around the summer time, my opinion about the DS definitely changed after seeing games that appeal to me be released, and in the up coming release schedule. I also badly want the games Children of Mana, Xenosaga Episode I & II, FFIII, etc. I'm planning to get the Mario Kart DS bundle, around mid December. After that, I plan to build up a DS collection, probably around 3-9 games. My only problem with doing this is that I may not be able to get Castlevania: Curse of Darkness and DDR Mario Mix until next year.:( Also, this puts me back of getting extra games like Devil May Cry 3, Ninja Gaiden, Full Metal Alchemist 2, etc. IMO, I do think it will be worth it to pass on those games for now, since a DS should be an excellent investment for now, and the future. It's kind of surprising to hear a Playstation fanboy (well, sort of), say that he wants a DS and hasn't mentioned anything about getting a PSP right now. Don't worry, I do want a PSP badly, despite what people say, it's that the DS has a few games I can't live without, and I don't exactly have a good job (where I could easily buy one).

Speaking of DQ8, I still haven't bought the game, although it is my most wanted game all year. I didn't buy it on release since I knew Magna Carta and Wild Arms: ACF would be tought to find, where I could only buy them at EB and Gamestop. I thought DQ8 would be easy to find, so I decided to wait a week or more (also thought it would go on sale). Well, the game does go on sale, next weekend, at Circuit City, for $39.99. I went to CC today, and they didn't have it. So, I might just go to EB next week and pay $50, although it's not much of a problem. I just want to have as much money as possible, to buy DS games.

I'm back

Although I started posting on my blog here around the beginning of November, I decided to return to the forum. It will be good news for some, while being bad news for others. Don't ask me what brought me back to the forum, probably because I started posting at a few other online forums (ones not related to my college, where I'd usually posts), so that might have gotten me to return.

Guitar Hero Rocks!

Well, after I wrote my last blog entry, I played Guitar Hero. I'm just going to say, the game rocks so freaking much. I knew there was a very high probability I would love the game, but it has exceeded my expectations in every way. Although I've never been a guitar player in my life, I'm quickly improving at the game. My only gripe with the game is, that I'm not really into rock music, so I haven't fallen in love with the music, like I have with other music/dance games. So far, Guitar Hero is easily my favorite game all year. I can't believe I'm saying this, since usually my favorite game is an RPG.

All I'm going to say is, that if you are interested in Guitar Hero, "BUY IT NOW". Seriously, it's Harmonix's best game, and that's definitely saying a lot.

Great day

Well, I've been wanting to go to Indianapolis since I last went a bunch of times in the Summer. I mostly want to go there because there's a Fry's Electronics, a store I can spend hours at. I finally went today and I had a wonderful time. I didn't go to Fry's earlier because I was hoping for them to run a sale on Shining Force Neo, but I never saw one. When I went there, they had the game priced at $39.99, which is $10 less than EB and Gamestop. EB and Gamestop were the only other two places I could find it at, so I bought it instantly. Another good thing about my day was that I finally got Guitar Hero as an early Christmas present. I was able to get $5 off of the game, using a coupon I've gotten from CAG. I'm very excited and plan to play it after I submit this blog entry. I had the chance to play DQVIII for the first time, at EB today, and it was definitely enjoyable. Along with that, I finally played an X360 at CompUSA. The graphics definitelly were great (maybe not completely next gen to me). I'll admit, I hate the original Xbox controller while not liking the S controller that much more, but I absolutely loved the X360 controller. Easily my 2nd favorite controller ever. Still, I definitely don't plan to get an X360, but my interest just increased for it.

I probably won't update this blog for a while, since my next two weeks are going to suck, with a few tests and a lot of homework due.

Tales of Phantasia finally comes stateside for GBA

I woke up around 6am on Thursday morning, since I wanted to turn in all the papers I graded, before the class started lecture at 7:30am. I did my normal everyday routine of checking a few websites, right when I wake up. I checked RPGFan, and read saw a news story about Tales of Phantasia coming stateside. At first, I thought I was dreaming, since I've been wanting a stateside release for years (for the PSX or GBA version, since there's no way the SNES version would be released). I later found out, I wasn't dreaming, and the news was true. It was also reported on RPGamer. I was so incredibly happy that I finally get a stateside release of a game I've been wanting to fully play. I'll admit, I did have a fan translated rom version; however, I don't have a very good gamepad for my PC and the translation wasn't too great, so I didn't put much time into it. I definitely plan to put a lot of time into the GBA version. My only problem is, it comes out around the same time as Tales of Legendia, which will probably get a lot of playing time from me also. I was surprised that Namco allowed Nintendo to release the game stateside and in Europe, since Namco won't allow any U.S. publisher to bring Tales of Destiny II and Tales of Rebirth, for PS2, stateside. Now, if those games were to be annouced stateside, I'd be the happiest person in the world.

Anyway, I just posted this because this was an announcement I never expected to hear and it does make me very happy. I love the Tales series so much and would love to get the opportunity to play the entire series. I do own all the ones that have come stateside though.
